The Marais du Vigueirat is a natural reserve located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France, near the city of Arles. It is a protected area of 919 hectares, composed of sansouires, étangs, scirpaies, and roselières, which are characteristic of the ecosystems and biocenoses of the Rhône delta. The reserve is home to numerous waterbirds and indigenous and protected plants. The site has a rich history, with evidence of human presence dating back to antiquity, and has been used for various purposes, including agriculture, hunting, and as a base for the French Resistance during World War II. Today, the reserve is managed by the Conservatoire du littoral and the association Les Amis des Marais du Vigueirat, which aims to conserve the natural habitats and species of the area. Visitors can explore the reserve on foot, by horseback, or by carriage, and guided tours are available to discover the flora and fauna of the area

Activities: We arrived by car and parked at a shaded parking lot. We accessed the trail via the reception. There were two trails available. We went on the palunette trail, a 2.5-kilometer path that goes over the marshes. We walked a lot of the trail, with stops to discover nature (birds, horses, lizards, turtles, and dragonflies), take photos, and have refreshments. We also picked blackberries along the way
Highlights: Little loved running among the branches that invaded the passage, while Mini enjoyed trying to grab every branch in reach from the stroller. We loved the calm of nature, the beautiful landscapes, and the opportunity to take great photos. It was a great place to visit! ✨
