What to expect

The Anse de Paulilles is a protected area located on the Mediterranean coast of France, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, within the territory of the commune of Port-Vendres. It forms a protected area accessible to the public, owned by the Conservatoire du littoral and managed by the Conseil général des Pyrénées-Orientales. The area is part of the Natura 2000 network to protect its fauna, flora, and marine floors. It covers 17 hectares in a sheltered bay on the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the Albères massif. The surroundings of the bay and the meadow are developed for the public and testify to the history of the Paulilles dynamite factory. The site has a varied landscape with small beaches separated by rocky promontories, and a colorful landscape. It is also home to a variety of flora, including the Armeria ruscinonensis, Polycarpon polycarpoides, and Thymelaea hirsuta. The area is suitable for family visits, with opportunities for hiking, visiting the atelier de restauration des barques catalanes, and exploring the ancient dynamiterie
