What to expect
The Castillet, also known as Castellet, is a historic fortification and city gate located in Perpignan, France. It was built in 1368 and has been transformed over the centuries, serving as a prison and now a museum. The monument is made of brick and Baixas marble and features a unique architecture with a big Castillet, a small Castillet, and a polygonal bastion. Although the bastion was destroyed in the 20th century, the big and small Castillet were saved from demolition. Today, it houses the Museu Català de les Arts i Tradicions Populars, which showcases the city's history and local traditions. Visitors can climb to the top of the Castillet for a 360-degree view of the city center. The place also hosts various events and exhibitions, including the Fête de la Musique and the Soirées Rayonnantes. The Castillet is a significant landmark and a must-visit attraction in Perpignan
