The La Forêt Fossile is a unique geological site featuring a fossilized forest from the Carboniferous period, approximately 300 million years old. The site showcases trunks of trees and plants fossilized in their natural environment, a former open-pit coal mine. THE FOSSIL FOREST

THE FOSSIL FOREST
This family's experience:

Activities: We started the visit with the exhibition hall, discovering trunks, leaves, and animals. Then, we watched a 30-minute slideshow explaining the fossilization of plants. After that, we took a small train through a quarry and a Mediterranean forest with mining remains and a view of Champclauson. We went down the train for explanations of rocks and fossils. Finally, the children participated in a discovery workshop to find bones buried in the sand

Highlights: My 7-year-old daughter adored the visit and learned a lot. "We took a small train" and "the children participated in a discovery workshop" were particularly enjoyable. The view of Champclauson was also superb ✨
