What to expect

The Gorges du Tarn is a deep canyon located in the Occitanie region of France, specifically in the departments of Lozère and Aveyron. It is considered the largest canyon in Europe, stretching for around 50km between Quézac and Le Rozier. The gorge is characterized by cliffs up to 500m high, breaches, ledges, and rocks. Visitors can explore the gorge by car or canoe, and enjoy activities such as rafting, swimming, and hiking. The area is also home to several villages, including Sainte-Enimie, which is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The gorge is surrounded by the Cévennes National Park and offers stunning views and a unique landscape. The area is also known for its rich cultural heritage, with many old and sometimes fortified Causses farms and vaulted sheep pens. Visitors can also spot 300 vultures gliding over the Gorges de la Jonte at the Maison des Vautours in Truel
