Cité d'Aigues-Mortes

Historic site Aigues-Mortes, Occitanie, France

What to expect

Aigues-Mortes is a well-preserved medieval town surrounded by 1.6km long city walls, offering great views of the salt marshes and Camargue. Visitors can take a tour of the walls, visit the majestic Tour Constance, and explore the town's many artist studios and craft workshops. The Aigues-Mortes salt marsh covers an area equivalent to around 10,000 rugby pitches and can be visited by tourist train, bike, or on foot. The town is also home to the Scamandre Regional Nature Reserve, which is known for its exceptional biodiversity. Families can enjoy the unique landscapes, visit a 'manade' to learn about bull and horse ranching, and sample local wines, including IGP Sables de Camargue wines
