It has been inhabited by the same family since 1306 and is considered one of the most beautiful fortified castles in France. The castle features ramparts, towers, dungeons, and Renaissance fireplaces. It has been modified over the centuries, with notable contributions from the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century. The castle is also known for its production of white Graves wines and Bazadais cattle breeding. It has been used as a location in several films and is open to the public for visits
