What to expect

The Phare du Cap Ferret is a lighthouse located on the Cap Ferret peninsula in the Gironde department of France. The lighthouse was first built in 1840 and was rebuilt in 1947 after being destroyed during World War II. It stands 52.1 meters tall and has a focal height of 62 meters, with a range of 22 miles. The lighthouse is automated and has a distinctive red flash every 5 seconds. Visitors can climb the 258 steps to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding area, including the Bassin d'Arcachon and the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse also features an interactive exhibition on the history of the lighthouse, the evolution of cartography, and the methods of navigation. The site is surrounded by a 5-hectare park with its own ecosystem, and there is a boutique on site selling souvenirs
