Hendaye is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. The town stands on the right bank of the River Bidasoa, which marks the Franco-Spanish border, at the point where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean in the French Basque Country. Hendaye has three distinguishable parts: la ville, la plage, and les hauteurs. The town has a long sandy beach, a port, and a historic center with a 16th-century church, Saint-Vincent, and a mysterious cross dating from the 17th century. The town is also home to the Chateau d'Abbadia and the Abbadia Natural Park, which offers scenic views and attractive cliffs
