The Moulins de la Guérinière are a group of windmills located on the island of Noirmoutier, in the Loire Region of France. The island is home to a large number of windmills, with 23 still standing today, including the four Court Mills of La Guérinière. The windmills were built to take advantage of the island's abundant grain production and exposure to the wind. The first mills were constructed by the monks of Saint Philibert in the 7th century and used the power of the tides as their source of energy. Over time, the windmills became an essential part of the island's landscape and were used as a reference point for sailors. The last miller ceased operations in 1945, but the windmills remain a popular tourist attraction and a testament to the island's rich history
