The Sentier du Souvenir is a memorial located on the edge of the Aizenay forest in the Vendée region of France. It commemorates the crash of the American B-17 bomber 'Big Red' on March 27, 1944. The crew of the plane attempted to escape, with some parachuting to safety while others were captured by the Germans or taken in by resistance networks. The site was inaugurated on July 1, 1995, and features a path that allows visitors to reflect on the events of that day. The memorial is free to visit and is open all year round
