What to expect

Notre-Dame de Paris, also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral, is a medieval Catholic cathedral and one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. The cathedral, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, features a pioneering use of the rib vault and flying buttress, enormous and colorful rose windows, and an abundance of sculptural decoration. It is a widely recognized symbol of both the city of Paris and the French nation. The cathedral has a long history, with construction beginning in 1163 and modifications made over the centuries. It has undergone several restorations, including a major restoration in the 19th century and another after a fire in 2019. The cathedral contains the cathedra or seat of the archbishop of Paris and is home to several pipe organs and immense church bells
