What to expect

The Fort du Parmont, also known as Fort Remiremont, is a fort built on the massive Parmont, overlooking the city of Remiremont in the Grand Est region of France. It is part of the defensive curtain of Upper Moselle, built by General Sere de Rivieres between the high places of Epinal and Belfort. The fort was constructed from 1874 to 1876 and modernized afterwards, seeing heavy fighting in June 1940 and 1944. Abandoned since 1960, it is now being restored by volunteers. The fort offers a unique perspective on Remiremont, the valleys of the Moselle and Moselotte, and features historic materials and equipment. Visitors can explore the fort's interior and exterior, and it is recommended to bring warm clothes, good shoes, and a lamp
