Hunawihr

Village Hunawihr, Grand Est, France

What to expect

Hunawihr is a typical Alsatian village, classified among the «Most Beautiful Villages in France». It was founded in the 7th century by Hunon, and his wife, Hune, the saint of washerwomen, gives its name to the village. The village is home to the 15th/16th century Church of St Jacques le Majeur, surrounded by a fortified cemetery, which has preserved an unspoiled environment and is a good example of the unity of the Alsace region. The village is also known for its wine production, with well-established wine-growers' houses and mansions. Visitors can explore the village by taking an historic walk and visit the church, the Schickardt House, the Renaissance Town Hall, The Fountain of St. Hune, the Stork and Otter Reintroduction Centre, and the Butterfly Garden
