What to expect

Asco is a commune in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. It is a remote village located in the Alta Muntagna region within the scenic Asco Valley, which forms part of the Parc naturel régional de Corse. The valley features dramatic granite cliffs, a river with natural pools, and access to the Monte Cinto massif rising to 2,706 meters. The commune has a population of 116 inhabitants and supports year-round outdoor activities, including hiking, swimming in natural rock pools during summer, and winter skiing at the Haut-Asco station. Asco also has cultural attractions like the Ecomusée - Maison du Mouflon, which highlights local flora, fauna, and heritage. During World War II, an internment camp was set up in the town, but none of the Jews interned were deported. A plaque was placed on the school wall in memory of this former internment camp in 2019
