The Ajaccio Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption of Ajaccio, is a Roman Catholic church located in Ajaccio, Corsica. The cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is in the Baroque/Mannerist architectural style. It was built between 1577 and 1593 and is attributed to Italian architect Giacomo della Porta. The cathedral has a beautiful high altar, donated by Princess Elisa, Napoleon's sister, and is where Napoleon Bonaparte was baptised in 1771. The cathedral also features several side chapels, a baptistery, and a treasure that contains precious objects telling part of the history of Corsica and the city. The cathedral is wheelchair friendly and welcomes groups
