Paimpont is a commune in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany, France. The town grew up around the abbey of Our Lady of Paimpont, which was founded by the Breton king and Catholic saint Judicael in 645 CE on the shore of a small lake now known as the Étang de Paimpont. The abbey is one of the most imposing religious buildings in the Broceliande country and features a treasure of silverware, including a magnificent silver reliquary that would contain a radius of King Saint-Judicael. The Paimpont pond, a natural and leisure space, is home to many plant and animal species and offers a circuit for walking and discovering the surrounding landscapes. The pond is also a wintering site for birds, welcoming Mallard, Common Teal, and Great Crested Grebe. The town has a charming village with Breton charm, featuring Armorican sandstone houses, small stores of handicrafts, and medieval, Celtic, or fantastic items
