Nature reserve Iffendic, Brittany, France

What to expect

The Vallon de la Chambre au Loup is a valley located in the commune of Iffendic, in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of the Brittany region in France. It is situated about 30 km west of Rennes and is known for its unique landscape, which features steep cliffs, wooded moors, and a stream that flows through the valley. The cliffs, which are up to 35 meters high, are composed of purple schist and have been eroded by the river, creating a breathtaking scenery. The valley is also home to a variety of flora and fauna, including gorse, broom, and lichen. According to legend, the valley was once home to the last wolf in the region, and its profile can still be seen in the rocky ridges. The site has been designated as an 'espace naturel sensible' by the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, and efforts are being made to preserve and promote the area's natural heritage. Visitors can explore the valley by taking the GR37 tour, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape
