What to expect

La Roche de Solutré is a spectacular limestone escarpment in the middle of the Mâconnais vineyards, offering a not-to-be-missed viewpoint. The site is part of the Solutré Pouilly Vergisson Grand Site de France, a protected natural area and a renowned tourist attraction. Visitors can hike to the top of the Roche de Solutré, which rises to 493 meters, and enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding vineyards. The site is also home to a prehistory museum, an archaeological and botanical garden, and the Maison du Grand Site. The area is rich in biological diversity, with rare species and remarkable plant associations, and is recognized at the European level as a Natura 2000 site. Small horses, known as Konik Polski, play a role in preserving the biodiversity of the limestone grasslands. The site offers family-friendly activities, including hiking and picnicking, and is a great place to visit with children
