The Plateau des Mille Étangs, also known as the Thousand Ponds Plateau, is a geographical area of over 220 km2 located in the northeast part of the Haute-Saône department in the French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The plateau is home to around 850 ponds, which were formed at the end of the last glacial period, 12,000 years ago, by the retreat of the Moselle glacier. The area is characterized by its wetlands, which are home to remarkable biotopes adapted to a cold and humid environment. The plateau is also known for its landscapes, which have earned it the nickname 'Little Finland' due to its resemblance to the 'Thousand Lakes' of Finland. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as hiking, cycling, and horseback riding, as well as fishing and exploring the local culture
