What to expect
Autun is a town in central-eastern France, known for its rich history and heritage. It was founded by Emperor Augustus as Augustodunum and was an important Roman city. The town still retains much of its Roman architecture, including walls, gates, and a Roman theater. Autun is also famous for its schools of rhetoric and was a major center of learning in the Roman era. The town has a population of around 15,000 and is home to several international companies. Visitors can explore the town's historic center, visit the Roman theater, and see the Romanesque sculpture at the church of Saint-Lazare.
