The lake is used for leisure activities and national sports competitions such as rowing, canoeing, and triathlon. The surrounding area offers a promenade with belvederes, playgrounds, and restaurants. The lake is also a popular spot for walking, jogging, and cycling, with a 6 km path that passes through the Napoleon Park and the Esplanade du Lac d'Allier. The area has undergone renovations to restore its natural beauty, including the removal of invasive species and the planting of new trees and vegetation.
