Saint Rambert

Medieval town Lyon, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France

What to expect

Saint-Rambert-l'Île-Barbe is a former commune in the Rhône department, now a quarter of the 9th arrondissement of Lyon. The quarter still has agricultural and artisanal activities and offers several leisure areas along the Saône river. It includes the Île Barbe, located in the middle of the Saône, which can be accessed by the Île Barbe bridge. The quarter is home to the Notre-Dame church, which has Romanesque chapiteaux and sculptures inspired by medieval bestiary. The church has a long history, dating back to the 12th century, and has been restored, although the clocher is still in need of repair
