Crest is a commune in the Drôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France. The town of Crest developed along an ancient Roman axis and was first mentioned in 1120. It was named one of France's most beautiful detours in 2004, with its authentic calades and alleyways, covered passageways, architectural buildings, and its keep. The town has a rich history, having been founded by the Arnaud family in the late 10th century, and later becoming a royal property. The keep, which is one of the highest medieval keeps in France, offers a large panoramic view and features various exhibitions and information about its past.
