What to expect

Puy de Dôme is an extraordinary site and an extinct volcano that has been listed as one of the 'Grand Sites of France'. It rises to 1464 metres above sea level and has views in all directions across mountains and volcanoes. Visitors can reach the summit by walking up the winding path from the Col de Ceyssat or by taking the train from the visitor centre. The summit features a footpath that follows around the top of the hill, offering breathtaking views, as well as the remains of a Roman Temple called the 'Temple of Mercury'. The surrounding area is home to various towns and villages, including Clermont-Ferrand, which boasts a distinctive style of religious architecture. The Parc des Volcans and the Massif Central offer opportunities for outdoor activities and exploration
