Montferrand is a medieval district located in Clermont-Ferrand, France. It was founded in the 12th century by the Counts of Auvergne and still retains its medieval character, with roads built in a regular grid pattern inspired by the fortified towns of South-Western France. The town was united with Clermont in 1630 by the edict of Troyes and features extraordinary urban dwellings dating from the Middle Ages to the 18th century.
