The Refuge du Carro is a mountain refuge located in the Vanoise National Park, near the village of Bonneval-sur-Arc. It is situated at an altitude of 2760m and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. The refuge is a great base for hiking and climbing trips, with several trails and routes available for all levels. The refuge has a restaurant, bar, and accommodation, and is open from June to September. The hike to the refuge is considered challenging and takes around 4-5 hours. The refuge is also a great spot for families, with a 'Refuge en famille' label, and offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The surrounding area is home to several lakes, including Lac Noir and Lac Blanc, and offers stunning views of the glaciers and mountains
