Korkeasaari Zoo, also known as Helsinki Zoo, is a unique zoo located on an island in the Baltic Sea, near Helsinki city centre. The zoo is home to over 150 animal species, including European and Asian species such as the Amur tiger, snow leopard, and European otter. The zoo has two tropical buildings, Amazonia and Africasia, which feature tropical species of small mammals, amphibians, snakes, birds, fish, and insects. The zoo is committed to conservation work and is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Visitors can enjoy the zoo's beautiful gardens, which bloom in summer and are impressive in fall colors or covered in snow.
