Museum Mariehamn, Aland, Finland

What to expect

The Navi museum, also known as the Åland Maritime Museum, is a great place for families to visit. The museum has an impressive collection of ship models, including 41 models built by sailor Viktor Andersson. The museum also features exhibits on the maritime history of Åland, including the story of the ship Pommern, a four-masted barque that sailed the high seas until World War II. The Pommern is now anchored behind the museum and is open for visitors. The museum also has a children's room called Ruby and the Sea, where kids can dive into the sea and discover wrecks, secret mermaid grottos, and exciting sea creatures. The museum is located in Mariehamn, a port town with a rich maritime history, and is a great place to learn about the history of sailing and the importance of the sea to the town
