Tutankhamun's Tomb

Archaeological site Markaz Qena, Qena, Egypt

What to expect

The Tomb of Tutankhamun is a world-famous archaeological site located in the Valley of the Kings. It is the only royal tomb from the Valley of the Kings that was discovered relatively intact. The tomb contains four chambers and an entrance staircase and corridor, and is smaller and less extensively decorated than other Egyptian royal tombs of its time. The tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter and is known for its rich treasures, including golden artifacts and other luxurious objects. The tomb is a great place to visit for families interested in history and archaeology, with many interesting artifacts and exhibits to see. The burial chamber is particularly notable, with magical brick niches and a sarcophagus, three coffins, burial mask, and mummy of the king

This family's experience:

Activities: We visited the tomb to see the body of the boy king, removed from his coffins

Highlights: Unfortunately, seeing the body was a bit too much for us, and we felt sad for the king who was married to his sister at just 10 years old and died 9 years later ✨
