The Cairo Tower is a free-standing concrete tower located in the Gezira district on Gezira Island in the River Nile, close to downtown Cairo. It stands at 187 meters tall and was the tallest structure in Egypt for 37 years. The tower's design is inspired by Ancient Egyptian Architecture and features a partially open lattice-work design intended to evoke a pharaonic lotus plant.
