What to expect
Parque El Ejido is a public park located in the heart of Quito, Ecuador. The park has a rich history, dating back to 1535 when it was used as a grazing area for horses and cattle. Over the years, it has served as a firing squad and punishment ground, as well as a burial place for dissidents and excommunicated people. Today, the park is a popular recreational space, featuring beautiful gardens, walking paths, and a variety of plant species, including yellow trumptbush, alder, and pacay. Visitors can also find sculptures, a feria de artistas, and areas for children to play. The park is home to around 1,470 species of plants native to the inter-Andean region and has a high concentration of heritage trees, making it a unique and fascinating place to explore
