What to expect

Puyo is a town located in the Pastaza province of Ecuador, in the Amazon rainforest region. It is the capital of the province and has a population of around 33,000 people. The town is situated near the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains and is an important trading center in the Oriente region. The local economy is based on trade with the surrounding Quechua population, who have gained substantial territorial rights since 1990. Puyo serves as a crossroads for tours to the jungle and forest reserves, and products such as sugarcane and cassava are produced in the area. The town's name is derived from the Kichwa word for 'cloudy', which reflects the local climate. Puyo is also known for its wet climate, with a temperature range of 18-24°C and frequent short periods of heavy rain
