Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul

The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, also known as Petrov, is a significant sacred location in Moravia and one of the dominating features of the city of Brno. The cathedral dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries, when a Romanesque chapel was built on the top of a hill. Over the centuries, the church was rebuilt and expanded several times, with the current Baroque interior designed by architect Mořic Grimm. The cathedral's towers, built in the Gothic Revival style, offer a great view of the city. The 'Kapistránka' pulpit, located on the left side of the hall, is a remarkable piece of art. The cathedral's bells ring at 11 am instead of noon, commemorating a legendary trick played on the Swedish army during a siege of the city.
