Basilica of St. Euphemia

Church Rovinj, Istarska županija, Croatia

What to expect

The Basilica of St. Euphemia is a Baroque church located on a hilltop in the heart of Rovinj's historic center. The church was built from 1725 to 1736 and features a stunning bell tower that resembles the tower of St Mark's Basilica in Venice. The church contains several treasures and works of art, including Gothic statues, paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries, and a Roman sarcophagus from the sixth century. The church's interior is dominated by two sets of six arcades and five pillars, dividing it into three naves, and features beautiful detached altars. The main and side altars were made by Venetian masters, and the walls of the choir are decorated with large paintings. The church is a great place to visit with family and friends to learn about its history and admire its stunning architecture
