What to expect

The Poás Volcano is an active stratovolcano in central Costa Rica, located within Poas Volcano National Park. It has erupted 40 times since 1828 and features two crater lakes near the summit. The northern lake, Laguna Caliente, is one of the world's most acidic lakes, with a pH of almost 0, and is covered with a layer of liquid sulfur. The southern lake, Lake Botos, is cold and clear, and is surrounded by a cloud forest. The volcano and surrounding park offer a unique and fascinating experience for visitors, with opportunities to observe the volcano's activity and explore the surrounding ecosystem

Activities: We visited Volcan Poas! "We are extra early." We walked along the top, looking at the crater. We saw the turquoise lagoon and smelled the sulfur. We explored the jungle path and saw a green lake in a secondary crater
