What to expect

The Great Wall at Huanghuacheng is a scenic section of the Great Wall of China, located in the Huairou District of Beijing. The section is also known as the Lakeside Great Wall, due to its proximity to man-made reservoir lakes. The wall features submerged parts under the lake water and offers a stunning view from a high guard tower after a steep hike. This section of the Great Wall is less crowded than other popular sections, making it a great destination for those seeking a more peaceful experience

This family's experience:

Activities: We reached the Great Wall after a 30-minute walk. We left the buggy at the entrance and used a baby carrier for the wall itself. Despite high humidity and sunshine, we managed a three-hour hike. "The Huanghuacheng section impressed us with its lake."

Highlights: We were particularly proud of our four-year-old daughter MC, who walked the whole way. The lake was a nice feature. "Sonnencreme, hats and a lot of water were essential." ✨
