The Halifax Citadel is a National Historic Site located in the heart of downtown Halifax, offering a commanding view of Halifax Harbour. The site has a rich history, with four fortifications constructed on Citadel Hill since the city was founded by the British in 1749. Visitors can explore the history of the fortress and the soldiers who were stationed there, walk within its walls, and literally touch a piece of Halifax's military history. The Citadel comes to life with the sounds and colour of its military interpreters, the 78th Highlanders and the Royal Artillery. First steps in Canada – May 15, 2022
This family's experience:

Activities: We went to the Citadelle of Halifax, where the children were given booklets adapted to their age: Lucie had games, Aubin had questions about the fort, while Nolan had to solve a riddle. We spent two hours walking around the site, and Aubin had to interview a speaker, write with a quill, dress as a soldier, stand guard, etc

Highlights: The children each received a reward after completing their booklets. We got our annual Parks Canada pass, which opens the doors of all the network sites for the duration of our stay. The article mentions, 'Cerise sur le gâteau, we will leave with our annual Parks Canada pass which opens the doors of all the network sites for the duration of our stay.' ✨
