What to expect

Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum is a civic museum showcasing the history and culture of Franco-Manitoban and Métis people. The museum is located in the second oldest building in Winnipeg, a former convent of the Grey Nuns, which has been an orphanage, a school, a seniors' home, and the first incarnation of the St. Boniface Hospital. The museum features a permanent exhibit dedicated to Louis Riel, with artifacts such as locks of his hair, his revolver, and his shaving kit. The museum also offers workshops where visitors can learn about the ways of the Métis artisans

This family's experience:

Activities: We visited the Musée de Saint-Boniface, which is housed in the oldest building in Winnipeg and the largest oak log construction in North America. It was the first hospital in Western Canada and served as an orphanage and seniors' home. Louis Riel studied here

Highlights: The kids found it very interesting, especially the information about the history of the area. It was also interesting to learn about the building's history and see how it has changed over time ✨
