Glacier National Park is a national park located in the Columbia-Shuswap region of British Columbia, Canada. The park is part of a system of 43 parks and park reserves across Canada and is one of seven national parks in British Columbia. It was established in 1886 and encompasses 1,349 km2 of land, including a portion of the Selkirk Mountains and the Rogers Pass National Historic Site. The park features high peaks, large active glaciers, and one of Canada's largest cave systems, as well as dense forests that support populations of large mammals, birds, and alpine species. The region is known for its heavy snowfall, and the park has an extensive network of trails, three campgrounds, and four backcountry huts and cabins. The park is also home to a variety of activities and experiences, including skiing, hiking, and wildlife viewing
