Devon is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada, located approximately 26 km southwest of Edmonton along the southern bank of the North Saskatchewan River. The town was constructed by Imperial Oil to accommodate its workers after one of the largest oil discoveries in the world in 1947. Devon boasts a warm-summer humid continental climate and has a population of around 6,545 people. The town has a rich history, with the first residents moving in in 1948, and it was incorporated as a village in 1950 and later became a town.
