What to expect

Grotto Canyon is a scenic trail located near Canmore, Alberta. The trail can only be accessed on foot and takes about a kilometre to reach the narrow-walled creek bed, which twists and turns for another kilometre. As the smooth limestone walls get steeper, visitors will come upon a fork in the creek bed, with a glistening waterfall to the right. Just before the falls, on the left at eye level, are Hopi pictographs painted 500-1,000 years ago. The trail is approximately 2.1 km one-way and has a difficulty level, making it a great place for families to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the area
