What to expect

Kananaskis Country is a multi-use area located west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in the foothills and front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. The area covers approximately 4,000 km2 and was formed by the Alberta Government in 1978 to provide an assortment of land uses and designations, including resource extraction, recreation, power generation, and residential communities. Kananaskis Country includes several provincial parks, wildland provincial parks, ecological reserves, and provincial recreation areas, offering various recreational activities such as hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and skiing. The area is also home to the Canmore Nordic Centre, a world-class facility built for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, and Nakiska Ski Resort. Visitors can enjoy a range of outdoor adventures, including camping, mountain biking, and hunting, with various accommodations and services available in the area
