Angkor Thom, meaning 'Great City', is a vast archaeological site located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer Empire, established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. The site covers an area of 9 km² and features several monuments, including the Bayon temple, Baphuon, and Phimeanakas. The city is surrounded by a 8m high wall, 12km long, with five gates, and a 100m wide moat. The Bayon temple is a notable structure, featuring 54 towers with 216 smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara.
