The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral located in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world and serves as the cathedral church of the Patriarch of Bulgaria. The cathedral was built to honor Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 and was named after Saint Alexander Nevsky, a Russian prince. The cathedral features a Neo-Byzantine style and has a central dome that is 45m high, with a bell tower reaching 53m. The interior is decorated with Italian marble, Brazilian onyx, alabaster, and other luxurious materials. The cathedral has 12 bells with a total weight of 23 tons and can hold 5,000 people inside. It is considered one of Sofia's symbols and primary tourist attractions
