The Stob Pyramids are a natural rock phenomenon located near the village of Stob in southwest Bulgaria. They are a set of earth pyramids shaped by natural erosion, ranging in height up to 12 meters and in thickness up to 40 meters at the base. The pyramids vary in shape from sharp spires to conical and mushroom-like formations, with some topped by flat stones. The area is a popular tourist destination and has been under state protection since 1964 as a natural landmark. The pyramids are situated at the foot of the Rila mountain range, near the Rila Monastery, and are easily accessible from the capital city of Sofia
