What to expect

Christ the Redeemer is a colossal statue of Jesus Christ located at the summit of Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The statue is 98 feet tall and has a wingspan of 92 feet, making it the largest Art Deco-style sculpture in the world. It was designed by French-Polish sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. The statue is made of reinforced concrete clad in a mosaic of thousands of triangular soapstone tiles and sits on a square stone pedestal base. Visitors can access the statue via a train ride and then climb over 200 steps to reach the top, where they can enjoy stunning views of the city. The statue has become an iconic symbol of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, and is a popular tourist destination
