Buraco das Araras is a huge sandstone crater, a geological formation created by the collapse of boulders, located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil. It is about 500 m in circumference and 100 m deep, and is home to a wide variety of birds, especially araçari toucans and red-and-green macaws. The crater is a doline, formed by the corrosion of limestone below the surface, and is considered the only cave of this type in Brazil and the largest in Latin America with its own ecosystem. Visitors can take a short hike on a 900-meter trail, stopping at two watch posts for observation and photos, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife, including broad-snouted caimans, armadillos, anteaters, and coatis. The place is suitable for families with children, and offers a unique and educational experience

Activities: We spotted different animals, especially many different species of birds. We walked a path of just under a kilometer, where we had 2 different platforms along the way where we could have a good look at the sinkhole
Highlights: We could very well see and photograph the beautifully colored macaws from above ✨
