Dervish house

Monastery Mostar, Federation of Bosnia Herzegovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina

What to expect

The Dervish house, also known as Blagaj Tekke, is a mystical place located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the city of Mostar. It was built between 1446 and 1520 for the Sufi Dervish and is considered one of the most mystical places in the country. The tekke is situated at the base of a 200m cliff wall and next to a cave, where the Buna River flows out. The complex includes a meeting/prayer room, a Turkish bath, and a mausoleum containing the relics of Sari Saltuk and Achik Basha, Islamic missionaries of Turkmenian origin. Visitors can explore the tekke and its surroundings, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty of the area. The town of Blagaj, where the tekke is located, has a rich history and was once the capital of the region under the Ottomans
