The Ghent Belfry is a medieval tower that symbolizes the city's prosperity and independence. It is one of three towers that overlook the old city centre of Ghent, Belgium, and is the tallest belfry in Belgium, standing at 91 meters high. The belfry has a long history, with construction beginning in 1313 and completing in 1380. It has served as a bell tower, a fortified watchtower, and a place where the city's privileges were kept. The belfry is home to a carillon, which was built in the 17th century and has 53 bells. Visitors can climb the stairs to the top of the tower for a stunning view of the city. The belfry is also home to a dragon that has been watching over the city since 1377. For families, the belfry offers a 'Little Guide' to help children learn more about the building, and there is a shop underneath the belfry selling souvenirs
